- What We Wish We Knew BEFORE Taking a Galapagos Islands Cruiseby Eat Sleep Cruise on September 1, 2026
A Galapagos cruise sounds like a dream, and it is, but nobody warns you about the parts that catch first timers off guard. From no bathrooms ashore to rough crossings between islands, here's what we wish we knew before our Galapagos Islands expedition. 💲Save BIG with MEI-Travel cruise deals: https://bookmeicruise.com/?apid=escy 🌎Save Up to 40% On Shore Excursions: https://www.shoreexcursionsgroup.com/?id=1603014 Up Next: Best Cruises for Adults: https://youtu.be/43tXZ0XIwng 🛳️ FREE CRUISE PLANNING GUIDE: https://eatsleepcruise.com/cruise-planning-guide We've sailed over 100 cruises, and the Galapagos still caught us off guard. After nine days aboard an expedition ship, Heidi and I are sharing the honest realities nobody tells you before you book a Galapagos cruise. 🌎 PLANNING YOUR GALAPAGOS CRUISE Not all Galapagos itineraries are the same. The eastern, western, and northern routes each show off different wildlife and landscapes, so the route you pick shapes the whole trip. The ship matters too, and with over 70 vessels ranging from 16 to 100 guests, size and expedition style should drive your choice. The season shifts everything as well, since water temperature, sea conditions, and animal activity all change through the year. A Galapagos cruise costs more than most people expect once you factor in flights, hotels, tips, and the $200 national park entrance fee. Read up on the Big 15, the signature species you'll hope to spot, and time your route around the wildlife you most want to see. Book early, because the park caps visitors and the best ships and cabins go fast. 🧳 GETTING THERE AND WHAT TO PACK There are no direct international flights into the Galapagos. You fly into Quito or Guayaquil first, then take a domestic flight to Baltra to board. We always fly in at least a day early for a buffer against delays. If you spend time in Quito or Cusco, prepare for altitude sickness, because both sit thousands of feet above sea level. There's paperwork too, like a Transit Control Card and a biosecurity screening on your bags. Packing for the Galapagos takes more thought than the Caribbean. Reef-safe sunscreen, water shoes, a dry bag, binoculars, and a rain jacket all earn their place. 🐢 LIFE ONBOARD AND ASHORE Expedition cruising is active, and the days run packed from early morning to evening. Every landing starts with a zodiac, and you'll want to know whether it's a wet or dry landing before you dress. Here's the one that surprised us most. There are no bathrooms once you step onto an island. The no-trace rules are strict, so you stay on marked trails and keep your distance, even when the animals wander right up to you. Embarkation isn't traditional either, with no gangway and no security line, just a zodiac ride out to the ship. Snorkeling, kayaking, and panga rides fill the days, and you'll likely be too tired most nights for an after-dinner drink. 💡 THE SMALL STUFF THAT TRIPS PEOPLE UP Crossings between islands can get rough, so pack seasickness remedies even if you never usually need them. Onboard life is casual, so you can leave the formal wear at home. Ecuador runs on the US dollar and standard US outlets, which makes things easy for American travelers. Little things like magnetic hooks and a plastic shoe organizer go a long way in a compact cabin. And since you've flown all that way, a pre or post-cruise extension to Machu Picchu or Quito is worth every penny. 0:00 What We Wish We Knew BEFORE Going to Galapagos Islands 0:30 Galapagos Islands trip Planning Mistakes 5:03 Galapagos Cruises Logistics No One Mentions 9:42 A Galapagos expedition is Very Different Than a Cruise 13:51 Be Prepared for Biosecurity Regulations 16:37 What to Pack (and Leave at Home) During a Galapagos Expedition Cruise 19:49 Who Should (and Shouldn't) Visit the Galapagos Islands 20:54 You May Not Be as Disconnected as You Think 21:28 Why Choose HX Expeditions #Galapagos #GalapagosCruise #GalapagosIslands #GalapagosTravel #CruiseTips #ExpeditionCruise #Ecuador #CruisePlanning #GalapagosTips #BucketListTravel #Wildlife #CruiseVlog #Galapagos #galapagosislands #galapagosexpedition ----TRENDING VIDEOS FROM EAT SLEEP CRUISE------ We Tested 10 Major Cruise Lines: https://youtu.be/n6ThEY2l2r0 40 Cruise Hacks We Swear by After 100 Cruises: https://youtu.be/ivvzrns5QOI 15 Things We Stopped Doing on Cruises: https://youtu.be/GtkBjn5GvJA Best Cruises for Couples: https://youtu.be/fenNj5GmLdM Join us on Social Media as we “Sea the World, One Port at a Time.” Instagram: https://instagram.com/EatSleepCruise Facebook: https://facebook.com/EatSleepCruise Twitter: https://twitter.com/EatSleepCruise TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@eatsleepcruise Pinterest: https://pinterest.com/EatSleepCruise Question – Which cruise line are you sailing on in 2026? - 22 Behaviors That Are NEVER OK on a Cruise (What to Do Instead)by Eat Sleep Cruise on August 30, 2026
Cruise rules are not always printed in your daily planner. The unwritten cruise rules are the ones every experienced cruiser follows and nobody explains to first timers. So we are breaking down cruise etiquette in 2026, from embarkation day through disembarkation morning. 💲Save BIG with MEI-Travel cruise deals: https://bookmeicruise.com/?apid=escy 🌎Save Up to 40% On Shore Excursions: https://www.shoreexcursionsgroup.com/?id=1603014 The 10 Major Cruise Lines Ranked Worst to Best: https://youtu.be/n6ThEY2l2r0 Subscribe to the Eat Sleep Cruise YouTube Channel if you love to travel and cruise the world! https://www.youtube.com/@Eatsleepcruise1 🛳️ FREE CRUISE PLANNING GUIDE: https://eatsleepcruise.com/cruise-planning-guide Ships are more crowded, policies are stricter, and behaviors that were once brushed off now annoy the passengers around you and the crew behind the scenes. Heidi and I have sailed more than 100 cruises across 15 cruise lines, and we have watched cruise etiquette shift in real time. 🛳️ EMBARKATION DAY CRUISE RULES Why your boarding time matters more than it used to, what happens when security finds something in your bag, the alcohol policy most cruisers get wrong, and the safety step still being skipped every sailing. 🍽️ SHARED SPACES AND BUFFET ETIQUETTE The pool deck, buffet, elevator, and cabin habits experienced cruisers notice immediately, including the chair situation that generates more complaints than anything else onboard. 👕 DRESS CODES, DRINKING AND SOCIAL BEHAVIOR Where swimwear is genuinely not acceptable, the poolside exception, drink package limits, smoking policies that vary by cruise line, and the behavior that now carries fines and lifetime bans. 🙏 CREW, GRATUITIES AND TIPPING How daily service charges actually work, who they reach beyond the crew you see, and why removing them affects people you never meet. 🌍 PORT DAYS AND ALL ABOARD TIMES Gangway crowding, excursion meeting times, and the time difference that strands passengers on the pier more often than you would think. 🧳 DISEMBARKATION MORNING Luggage timing, what you keep with you overnight, assigned departure groups, and one small thing at the end that helps the crew who took care of you all week. Whether this is your first cruise or your fiftieth, knowing the unwritten rules of cruising makes the experience smoother for everyone sailing with you. - We Stopped Doing These 15 Things on a Cruise (You Should Too)by Eat Sleep Cruise on August 25, 2026
After 100+ cruises, Heidi and I quietly changed a lot of what we do onboard. These are the things we stopped doing on a cruise for good, and exactly what we do instead. Some saved us money. Some saved us stress. A few we wish we'd figured out a whole lot sooner. 💲Save BIG with MEI-Travel cruise deals: https://bookmeicruise.com/?apid=escy 🌎Save Up to 40% On Shore Excursions: https://www.shoreexcursionsgroup.com/?id=1603014 Up Next: Best Cruises for Adults: https://youtu.be/43tXZ0XIwng 🛳️ FREE CRUISE PLANNING GUIDE: https://eatsleepcruise.com/cruise-planning-guide After 100+ cruises, Heidi and I quietly changed a lot of what we do onboard. These are the things we stopped doing on a cruise for good, and exactly what we do instead. Some saved us money. Some saved us stress. A few we wish we'd figured out a whole lot sooner. 🚢 WHY WE MADE THIS VIDEO Most cruise tip videos are written for first-timers. This one isn't. After sailing more than 100 cruises across 15+ cruise lines, we realized how many habits we'd carried for years without ever questioning them. The fares we booked. The way we packed. What we did the second we stepped onboard. One by one, we changed them. This is the honest list of the cruise habits we stopped doing, and the smarter routine we follow now. 💰 THE PRE-CRUISE MONEY HABITS WE DROPPED Some of our biggest changes happen before we ever step on the ship. For years we booked on price alone and ignored the fine print. We share why fare types, bundle packages, gratuities, and the way you book completely change the math, and the pre-cruise money moves we won't sail without anymore. 🧳 THE PACKING RULES THAT TRIPPED US UP Even after 100 sailings, packing is where experienced cruisers still get caught. The prohibited items list keeps changing, and things you packed for years can get pulled at the pier today. We walk through what we learned the hard way, and the two-minute habit that saves us a confiscated bag and a delayed cabin every single time. ⚓ WHAT WE STOPPED DOING ON EMBARKATION DAY The first few hours of a cruise set the tone for the whole trip. We changed how we handle online check-in, how we travel to the port the day before, and the small phone setting that used to cost us real money. These are the arrival-day habits that make boarding calmer, smoother, and a lot cheaper. 🛳️ THE ONBOARD MINDSET SHIFT This is the part that surprised even us. We stopped trying to do everything. We stopped treating every port as mandatory. We stopped letting a small cabin feel cramped. The way we actually spend our sea days now looks nothing like it did on cruise number five, and honestly, we're happier for it. If you've ever come home from a cruise more tired than when you left, this section is for you. 🎯 THE ONE WE SHOULD HAVE CAUGHT SOONER We saved the biggest one for last. It's the habit we held onto the longest, the one that quietly cost us the most, and the change that makes the rest of this list matter. If you take only one thing from this video, make it this. 0:00 Cruise Tips and Tricks That Still Work 0:50 Automatically Selecting the Lowest Fare 2:00 Packing Prohibited Items 3:35 Cruising Without a Passport 4:20 Booking Every Shore Excursion Through the Cruise Line 5:38 Waiting Too Long to Check In Online 7:28 Skipping Travel Insurance 8:49 Living Out of A Suitcase 10:09 Guessing on Drink and Wi-Fi Packages 11:30 Forgetting About Gratuities 12:39 Flying In the Same Day as the Cruise 13:23 Trying to Do Everything 14:31 Treating Every Port as Mandatory 15:40 Letting Small Problems Ruin the Cruise 16:27 Booking Directly With the Cruise Line #Cruise #CruiseTips #Cruising #CruiseTipsAndTricks #CruiseVacation #CruiseMistakes #CruiseHacks #CruiseLife #ExperiencedCruiser #CruisePlanning #CruiseAdvice #Vacation #EatSleepCruise ----TRENDING VIDEOS FROM EAT SLEEP CRUISE------ We Tested 10 Major Cruise Lines: https://youtu.be/n6ThEY2l2r0 40 Cruise Hacks We Still Use: https://youtu.be/ivvzrns5QOI Cruise Essentials We Always Pack: https://youtu.be/xa-0mxKWkeo What Its Really on a Viking River Cruise: https://youtu.be/UFgUN6IRN68 Join us on Social Media as we “Sea the World, One Port at a Time.” Instagram: https://instagram.com/EatSleepCruise Facebook: https://facebook.com/EatSleepCruise Twitter: https://twitter.com/EatSleepCruise TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@eatsleepcruise Pinterest: https://pinterest.com/EatSleepCruise Question – Which cruise line are you sailing on in 2026? - Is an Atlas Ocean Voyages Arctic Cruise Really Worth It?by Eat Sleep Cruise on August 23, 2026
Our Atlas Ocean Voyages Arctic Cruise sailed us to 79 degrees north, from the fjords of Norway to the glaciers of Svalbard. But one thing decides whether you love this Arctic Cruise or come home disappointed, and it's not the ship, the food, or the price. 💲Save BIG with MEI-Travel cruise deals: https://bookmeicruise.com/?apid=escy 🌎Save Up to 40% On Shore Excursions: https://www.shoreexcursionsgroup.com/?id=1603014 Up Next: Best Cruises for Adults: https://youtu.be/43tXZ0XIwng 🛳️ FREE CRUISE PLANNING GUIDE: https://eatsleepcruise.com/cruise-planning-guide ❄️ What This Atlas Ocean Voyages Arctic Cruise Is Really Like Over 12 nights, we sailed from Oslo to Longyearbyen aboard World Navigator, and this trip is really two very different experiences stitched into one. The first stretch is a scenic Norwegian coastal cruise through the fjords and quaint villages up to the North Cape. The real polar expedition, the Svalbard part, doesn't begin until later in the voyage. Understanding that split is the single biggest factor in whether this Arctic Cruise lives up to your expectations, and it's the reason we made this review. 🚢 Life Onboard World Navigator World Navigator is one of three nearly identical polar-class yachts in the Atlas fleet, carrying fewer than 200 guests. We walk through our cabin, the standout spaces like The Dome and Water's Edge, the dining at Porto and beyond, and the areas where a small ship shines and where it asks you to compromise. We're also honest about the onboard enrichment, which turned out to be one of the biggest talking points of the entire voyage. 🇳🇴 The Norwegian Coast Before the ice, there's Norway. We share our ports along the coast, the highlights that genuinely surprised us, and the stop that ended up being our biggest letdown of the trip. We also cross one of travel's great milestones along the way, and it's marked in a way you might not expect on a luxury expedition ship. 🐻❄️ The Svalbard Expedition This is what most people come for, and it's where the trip finally becomes a true expedition. We take you through the Zodiac safaris, the towering glaciers, the wildlife we hoped to see, and the moments that made the wait worth it. We also cover where the expedition portion fell a little short, so you know exactly what to expect before you book. 🧾 What's Included on an Atlas Ocean Voyages Arctic Cruise Atlas sails all-inclusive, and we break down what that actually covers, from dining and drinks to the parka you keep, the loaner boots, the Zodiac landings, and even the private charter jet home. We also flag the extras that cost more, along with the shore excursions and internet plans, so there are no surprises when the bill arrives. ✅ Is an Atlas Ocean Voyages Arctic Cruise Worth It? Finally, we give you our honest verdict. We tell you exactly who this Arctic Cruise is right for, who might find it a little slow, and what we'd do differently if we sailed it again. If you value small-ship luxury and want a genuine taste of the high Arctic, this may be perfect. If you're a seasoned expedition traveler, you'll want to hear this first. Either way, if you're weighing an Arctic expedition and want the real story before you commit, this is the review we wish we'd had. #AtlasOceanVoyages #ArcticCruise #ExpeditionCruise #Svalbard #Norway #PolarExpedition #CruiseReview #WorldNavigator #EatSleepCruise #ArcticExpedition #LuxuryCruise #Longyearbyen 0:00 Is an Atlas Arctic Cruise Worth It? 0:55 The Arctic Cruise Itinerary Can Make or Break Your Trip 2:20 Onboard Atlas Ocean Voyages World Navigator 4:05 Built for Arctic Cruise Expeditions 6:05 Onboard Dining, Enrichment and Activities During Our Arctic Cruise 10:50 Exploring the Norwegian Coast 14:10 What’s Included with Atlas Ocean Voyages Arctic Cruise? 15:40 How An Arctic Expedition Cruise is Different 17:10 Exploring the Arctic and Svalbard on a Cruise 17:12 CO - First expedition stop: foggy Bear Island and cliffs filled with seabirds 21:10 Was the Atlas Arctic Cruise Worth It? ----TRENDING VIDEOS FROM EAT SLEEP CRUISE------ We Tested 10 Major Cruise Lines: https://youtu.be/n6ThEY2l2r0 Best Cruises for Couples: https://youtu.be/fenNj5GmLdM Cruise Essentials We Always Pack: https://youtu.be/xa-0mxKWkeo What Its Really on a Viking River Cruise: https://youtu.be/UFgUN6IRN68 Join us on Social Media as we “Sea the World, One Port at a Time.” Instagram: https://instagram.com/EatSleepCruise Facebook: https://facebook.com/EatSleepCruise Twitter: https://twitter.com/EatSleepCruise TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@eatsleepcruise Pinterest: https://pinterest.com/EatSleepCruise Question – Which cruise line are you sailing on in 2026? - BRAND NEW: Norwegian Free at Sea Explained 2026 (Updates, Prices, and Changes)by Eat Sleep Cruise on August 18, 2026
NCL Free at Sea 2026 explained: what's included, what it really costs, and is Free at Sea worth it? After 100+ cruises across 15+ cruise lines, Heidi and I break down every Norwegian Free at Sea perk, the gratuities nobody mentions, and how it compares to other lines. 💲Save BIG with MEI-Travel cruise deals: https://bookmeicruise.com/?apid=escy 🌎Save Up to 40% On Shore Excursions: https://www.shoreexcursionsgroup.com/?id=1603014 Big Changes to Norwegian Cruise Line 2026: https://youtu.be/F6H3Jp9_iPo Subscribe to the Eat Sleep Cruise YouTube Channel if you love to travel and cruise the world! https://www.youtube.com/@Eatsleepcruise1 🛳️ FREE CRUISE PLANNING GUIDE: https://eatsleepcruise.com/cruise-planning-guide Norwegian Free at Sea is the cruise line's bundled perks promotion, and it looks simple on the surface. You book, you pick your perks, and everything sounds included. In reality, the word "free" is doing a lot of work here. Several perks carry mandatory gratuities that get added to your booking before you ever step onboard, and those charges add up fast on a 7 night sailing for two adults. 🍹 WHAT'S ACTUALLY INCLUDED We cover the full perk lineup on most 2 night and longer sailings, including the unlimited open bar, specialty dining credits, WiFi minutes, shore excursion credits, and the 3rd and 4th guest sail free offer. We also explain the rules that catch first time Norwegian cruisers off guard, like everyone in the stateroom choosing the same perks. 💵 WHAT FREE AT SEA REALLY COSTS IN 2026 Using a 7 night cruise for two adults, we run the numbers on the beverage package gratuity, the specialty dining gratuity, and the total you owe before your base cruise fare. The final figure surprises most people, and it is the single biggest reason cruisers feel misled by the word "free." 🍽️ THE DINING PERK, HONESTLY REVIEWED Norwegian includes plenty of complimentary dining, so we explain when the specialty dining credits are a real win and when you might not need them at all, depending on your ship and class. 🚢 THE PERKS THAT ARE WEAKER THAN THEY SOUND The shore excursion credit works differently than most cruisers expect, and the included WiFi minutes come with real limits. We explain what each one covers, what it does not, and how to avoid overpaying for upgrades onboard. ⚖️ FREE AT SEA VS FREE AT SEA PLUS We compare the standard promotion against the upgraded version, including what the Plus tier adds, what it no longer includes, and which type of cruiser actually comes out ahead. 📊 HOW IT STACKS UP AGAINST OTHER CRUISE LINES Norwegian is not the only line bundling perks. We compare the per person, per day cost against Celebrity All Included, Princess Plus, and Princess Premier, then look at how it measures up to booking a la carte on Royal Caribbean and Carnival. ✅ IS NCL FREE AT SEA WORTH IT? By the end, you will know exactly which cruisers save real money with Free at Sea, which ones would be better off skipping the bundle, and how to pick perks so you get the most value from your Norwegian Cruise Line booking. 0:00 Is NCL Free at Sea REALLY Worth it in 2026 0:25 What Does Norwegian Free at Sea Include 1:00 The True Cost of Free at Sea 2026 1:49 NCL's The Unlimited Open Bar 2:41 Norwegian Free atSea Specialty Dining g gratuities 3:11 Shore Excursion Credit 3:36 Free Wi Fi Minutes 5:23 What’s Included in the NCL Open Bar 7:14 What’s Covered in Specialty Dining Credit 9:25 Shore Excursion Credit Realities 10:44 What You Actually Can Do With WiFi 11:57 Norwegian Free at Sea Plus 14:21 How Free at Sea Compared to Other Cruise Line Bundles: 20:25 NCL Vs Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruises #NCLFreeAtSea #FreeAtSea #NorwegianCruiseLine #NCL #CruiseTips #FreeAtSea2026 #CruisePlanning #NorwegianCruise #CruiseAdvice #MoreAtSea #CruiseDeals #CruiseTravel ---- TRENDING VIDEOS FROM EAT SLEEP CRUISE------ Royal Caribbean vs Norwegian Cruise Line: https://youtu.be/KfM4z0BEf3Q We Tested the New Norwegian Aqua: https://youtu.be/WlZ7TKApq1Y Best Cruises for Couples: https://youtu.be/fenNj5GmLdM Join us on Social Media as we “Sea the World, One Port at a Time.” Instagram: https://instagram.com/EatSleepCruise Facebook: https://facebook.com/EatSleepCruise Twitter: https://twitter.com/EatSleepCruise TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@eatsleepcruise Pinterest: https://pinterest.com/EatSleepCruise Question – Which cruise line are you sailing on in 2026? I work on a cruise ship, and this is my crew cabin as a Guest Entertainer. Welcome to my home! Below are the main differences between my new role as a Guest Entertainer vs being a Crew Member: 1. Full guest status onboard. I Do not have to participate in crew training, drills, or duties. 2. Single cabin guaranteed. This will be either an 'officers' cabin, or regular passenger cabin. My cabin has a double bed, huge workspace with plenty of outlets, large wardrobe, plenty of storage space, and clean bathroom. 3. Free internet. Having constant access to wifi is crucial to my position an Enrichment Host, and I have been provided with a complimentary wifi voucher for 1 free device. I can switch between devices if needed. 4. My own boss. I do not have a direct manager or supervisor to report to onboard. I create my own schedule and choose when to work and relax. I have direct online communication with my shoreside team. 5. I am not required to wear a name badge. 6. If I need any help or assistance, I have direct communication with the entire Entertainment Department. For example: the Cruise Director, Activities Manager, the Cruise Staff. 7. My working hours are the same everyday, regardless if it is a day at sea or port day. 8. Housekeeping will clean my cabin daily. 9. Private laundry room for myself and select crew members. 10. Very attractive salary.
