Six complimentary sit-down restaurants, no main dining room, and no specialty upcharges. Think The Wake steakhouse, Pink Agave, Gunbae, and Test Kitchen, plus a brand-new spot on Brilliant Lady, Rojo by Razzle Dazzle. Several menus added Alaska-inspired dishes and drinks marked with a little bear icon, from Achiote Spiced Salmon to boozy hot chocolate during glacier viewing. 🎭 A completely different energy. Live music until midnight, production shows, Scarlet Night, and Alaska-themed fun like Lumberjack Games and Salty Trivia. We'd argue Brilliant Lady has the best entertainment in the Virgin fleet. 🎓 Alaska enrichment that surprised us. A Naturalist and a Cultural Heritage Guide from Alaska Native Voices led talks, wildlife viewing, and more. It was better than we expected from Virgin. 🍷 The adults-only atmosphere works better here than we thought it would. 💲 Better value than you'd think. Basic WiFi, most dining, fitness classes, and soft drinks are included, which changes the math once you compare what's actually built into the fare. ❌ THE CONS 🌲 Brilliant Lady isn't designed for Alaska viewing. Most scenic spots are aft, there's no forward-facing observation lounge with panoramic glass, and covered outdoor space is limited for the cold, rainy days that come with the region. 🧊 No Glacier Bay, and no cruisetours. This itinerary sails Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier, and there's no way to add Denali or Alaska's interior. 🔇 Scenic cruising is almost too quiet. Virgin skips the ship-wide announcements, so you miss the wildlife sightings and narration you'd get on other lines. A Naturalist-led WhatsApp group helps, but we'd rather watch Alaska than our phones. 🚐 Shore excursions felt a little disorganized, especially in Juneau where tendering was involved. 🛏️ A few more trade-offs. Small cabins with little storage for all your Alaska layers, a Redemption Spa that isn't built for scenic viewing, a busy shared terminal at Seattle's Pier 91, and no traditional unlimited drink package. Virgin's new VoyageFair fare tiers also make it important to read the fine print before you book. So would we book a Virgin Voyages Alaska cruise again? It depends on what you want. If you care as much about what happens onboard as you do about the itinerary, Virgin offers something different in Alaska. But if Glacier Bay, a forward observation lounge, or a Denali cruisetour top your list, another line may be the better fit. After 8 cruises here, our biggest takeaway is simple: Virgin Voyages is really good at being Virgin. Is this the most underrated dessert at Port Orleans French Quarter?! 👀🍮 We tried the Big Easy Custard for $4.99, and there’s definitely more to this little cup than meets the eye. OK so I know this looks kind of gross but stay with me here... You’ve got smooth, creamy beignet custard topped with pecan praline and that praline is SWEET. Like, really sweet. 😂 But once you get the custard and crunchy pecans together, the flavors start to balance out. Despite the small cup, this dessert is surprisingly filling! (I mean it’s basically a giant, super rich pudding cup?!) I do wish there was more praline throughout the dessert because I think mixing those crunchy, sweet pecans into the custard would take this to another level. But at under $5? This is a pretty tempting little grab and go treat.👀 Would you try the Big Easy Custard?👇

Today, Dad and I are spending the day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios before we head out on our big cruise adventure!
